An elderly man in China's Chengdu city is dead after being sent to a state-run re-education camp. Just before dying he told his family members that the staff at the camp injected him with a drug. The move comes within one month of his apprehension for practicing the persecuted meditation practice Falun Gong. After Xie Deqing passed away at a state-run re-education camp in Chengdu city, his family members did not expect 100 Chinese police officers to break into the funeral hall, and remove his corpse by force. Xie's two brothers try to stop the police, but are pinned to the ground and kicked. The elder of the two, Xie Weidong, is left beaten to the point where he cannot walk. Many female guests are captured by officers with cloth wrapped around their heads. Staff from Chengdu's "610" ...
Xie Deqing was 69-years-old and a retired staff member from the Chengdu Institute. Since July 2008, he and his wife were under the surveillance and were harassed by police because they practiced Falun Gong, a traditional meditation practice now persecuted by communist authorities. Back on April 29th, Xie Deqing and his wife went to a court in Chengdus Gaoxin zone to attend the trial of Falun Gong practitioners who were being targeted by authorities for persecution. But when Xie and his wife arrived, they were kidnapped by the director of the courts security guard department, and were sent to the Chengdu Legal Education Center. There, authorities tried to brainwash them to denounce Falun Gong. The re-education center sent Xie Deqing home because his health deteriorated during his stay...
Everyone loves China's innovative bike sharing schemes... Well they used to! People still love to ride them, but new companies are flooding the market and the amount of these bikes around the city are insane! They're becoming a problem and are being neglected, left in strange places, vandalised and you won't believe the footage I have of them in this video! Come and see how bike sharing has gone overboard in China! Mobike (Chinese Simplified: 摩拜单车, Mo-bai bicycle), founded and owned by Beijing Mobike Technology Co., Ltd. (Chinese Simplified: 北京摩拜科技有限公司), is a fully station-less bicycle-sharing system headquartered in Beijing, China. It is the world's largest bicycle operator, and in December 2016, made Shanghai the world's largest bike-share city. In January 2017, Mobike raised $215 mill...
Many us have heard of the Tiananmen Square Massacre, most specifically the photograph of the "Tank Man." But he was just one small aspect of a fight for freedom that played out over 50 long days and across nearly every part of the country. It started as a peaceful protest, but soon turned into massacre that will be etched into history forever. Here are 10 things you probably didn't know about the Tiananmen Square Massacre. This video explains the cultural differences between western and Chinese workplaces. If you consider moving to China, it is very likely you will wind up working for a Chinese company. This video will warn you of potential pitfall. I apologize if it seems to be critical of Chinese companies, but this info is for people who may be used to a very different workplace culture.

Don't know if these were uploaded before. China field the first all women SWAT team in Chengdu City. Was it my imagination but I noticed the officers are taller than the Chinese men in video. Amazons. Also, it says they go on patrol occasionally. FYI, Chengdu City has its fair share of drug related crime as it is near to the Golden Triangle.

I go for a ride using China's bicycle sharing program. The bicycle sharing program in China is like no other in the world. First off, it's huge - the most widely used in the world. Secondly, it's dockless - the bikes can be left in almost any public space; including sidewalks, parks, squares, and at the side of the road. It's so easy to find a bike - especially with the many apps that are available. Mobike, Ofo, and Bluegogo are just a few of the many startups that are offering dockless bicycle-sharing. Lastly and most surprisingly, the bikes are cheap. How cheap? A half hour ride will cost you just 15 cents. So how do they make money? Why are companies investing millions of dollars in the startups? How can more than one bicycle-sharing scheme in China be worth over a billion dollars? ...

Establishing a legal presence in China is not as straightforward as incorporating an entity in the Western World. There are several aspects that require due consideration, including: • The general business scope and activity of the entity, which needs to be clearly defined from the start of the incorporation • The physical office requirement for the entity as its registered place of business • The structure and budget for the investment that need to be carefully thought through • The opening, operation, and maintenance of three sets of bank accounts in China for continuous operations On October 1st 2016, China changed its system for government control over foreign investment. The change was accomplished by revising the statutes concerning wholly foreign owned enterprises (WFOEs), e...

Wang Lijun, the police chief who fled to the US consulate in Chengdu last February, has been officially charged. Wang's flight revealed an ongoing power struggle within the Chinese Communist Party. State-run Xinhua News Agency reported today that Wang has been prosecuted for defection, abuse of power, taking bribes, and "bending the law for personal gain." This latest development comes after weeks of speculation about Wang's fate—after Gu Kailai, the wife of his former boss Bo Xilai, was convicted of murdering British businessman Neil Heywood. Xinhua said that Wang knew of the murder, but illegally protected Gu from legal liability. Wang was also accused of illegally using technical investigative measures—though Xinhua did not elaborate what this charge relates to. After he fled to th...

We visited Chengdu—the capital city of China's Sichuan Province—and ate a ton of cheap, signature Chengdu street food. With the help of Trevor James, We ate some delicious Chinese wraps, zongzi, RABBIT HEAD, and a ton of other cheap foods! Fellow YouTuber and food blogger - Trevor James (The Food Ranger) showed us a ton of cheap local specialties to help make this the best episode of 20 Dollar Traveling yet! I knew Chengdu only as the land of the panda bears. And, I always wanted to visit Chengdu specifically for the pandas. But, honestly, I had no idea where Chengdu was, or that it was at the epicenter of Sichuan provence, home to spicy food and lip numbing dishes. I knew I wanted to travel to Sichuan, I just needed to figure out what to eat in Chengdu. Sichuan cuisine has a characteristic red color, and is often loaded with dried chilis. Generally, it is easy to assume these dried chili peppers are Sichuan peppers. But, they are really just dried chilis. Although they are added to the oil to cook the dishes, they don’t generally get eaten. Sichuan peppers, on the other hand, are more like a dried berry, from a particular type of ash tree. They are closer to black peppercorns than they are ...
